Astana previously Akmolinsk, Tselinograd, Akmola, Nur-Sultan) is the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan since December 10, 1997. The city is located in the north of the country, on the banks of the Ishim River, administratively divided into 4 districts.
Akmolinsk received city status on September 26, 1862. Astana became a millionaire city in June 2017. And at the beginning of 2020, the population of Astana was 1 136 156 people, which is the second indicator in Kazakhstan after Almaty.
The significance of "Bayterek" as a symbol of a new stage in the life of the Kazakh people is emphasized by the artistic composition "Ayaly Alakan" (Kazakh Ayaly Alakan - "caring hands"), with the imprint of the president's right hand located at a height of 97 meters, which symbolizes 1997 - the year of the proclamation of Astana as the new capital of the state and, accordingly, a new starting point in the history of the country.
Khazret Sultan is built in the classical Islamic style with the use of traditional Kazakh ornaments. Located on the right bank of the yesl river, the mosque is adjacent to the Palace of Peace and Accord and the monument "Jaza" El. It can accommodate five thousand worshippers, and on holidays - up to 10,000 people. The entire Khazret Sultan Mosque is over 11 hectares and has an area of 17,700 square meters.
Khazret Sultan has the largest dome in Kazakhstan with a height of 51 meters and a diameter of 28.1 meters at the base of the dome. According to the architectural plan, the temple should be crowned with an 80-meter spire with a crescent moon directed strictly towards Mecca. As for the functionality of this facility, it can be noted that the building provides rooms for absolution and wedding ritual, halls for reading the Koran and classes of educational groups. In short, this grandiose structure meets all modern requirements.
