The most ancient city of Kazakhstan
2200 years
South Kazakhstan most resembles an Eastern fairy tale, mainly due to the Turkestan region. Here, perhaps, the most historical and spiritual values are concentrated, awing tourists.
Its most important pearl, which attracts pilgrims and Muslims from all over the world, is the mausoleum of the Sufi poet Khoja Ahmed Yasavi. Here you can also see the underground mosque of Hilvet of the XII century, the amazing Museum of the Eastern baths, the Museum-mausoleum of Rabia Sultan Begim and many other sacred places.
The whole city is literally saturated with the atmosphere of antiquity, as if transferred to a few centuries ago.
Local national reserves, home to several species of endangered animals are of great interest to lovers of ecotourism. The nature here is just amazing: waterfalls, rocks, picturesque mountain lakes and endless green fields.
Be sure to come here in the spring, when tulips bloom and it's not as hot as in summer. You will be shocked by this wonderful sight - the steppe, painted scarlet, stretching to the horizon. The real sea of quivering and beautiful flowers, even from a light breeze.
